Definition: The removal, isolation or destruction of cardiac tissue or conduction pathways involved in arrhythmias. A disruption of an electrical pathway within the heart.

Example: An ablation surgery is performed by a specialist called and electrophysiologist in order to redirect the electrical current in the heart with the goal of correcting atrial fibrillation or an atrial flutter.
