Cardiac Arrest

sudden-cardiac-arrest

Definition: Cardiac arrest is the sudden lose of heart function for those who may not have previously been diagnosed with heart disease.

Example: Cardiac arrest is often used synonymously with heart attack, however they are not the same thing. A heart attack is caused by a blockage that prevents blood flow to the heart resulting in sudden death or lose of heart function. While they result in the same thing, cardiac arrest is caused by a malfunction in the heart’s electrical system.
