Dyspnea

Definition: Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing which is experienced and described differently by patients dependent of the cause. With many different causes for dyspnea it is poorly understood but the uncomforable sensation of breathing is a fairly common problem.

Example: While dyspnea can be a normal symptom of extreme exertion it can become pathological if occuring in unexpected situations. In most circumstanses it is due to conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, pneumonia, cardiac ischemia, congestive heart failure, or psychogenic causes such as anxiety
